DR. KIM MACKENZIE
Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, and grew up in Alma, Nova Scotia. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of New Brunswick and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Dalhousie University in 2001, where she received several awards for academic excellence and proficiency in Clinical Pediatric Dentistry. After practicing in London, Ontario, she returned to Nova Scotia to join Tantallon Dental Centre. Dr. MacKenzie is currently a member of several dental associations and lives in Hammonds Plains with her family.

DR. IAN MACASKILL
Born in Halifax and grew up in the Hubley/Tantallon area, attending local schools and graduating from Sir John A. MacDonald High School. He earned a Bachelor’s in Engineering and a Master’s in Applied Science in Metallurgical Engineering from Dalhousie University, where he also worked in R&D, oil and gas, and manufacturing before deciding to pursue dentistry. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Dalhousie in 2011, receiving awards for his academic achievements, technical skills, and leadership. After graduation, he began practicing at Tantallon Dental Centre, taking over Dr. Fred Gogan's practice in 2012. Dr. MacAskill has a strong interest in dental implants, has pursued continuing education in Canada and the USA, and serves as a lecturer in dental biomaterials at Dalhousie University. He lives in Upper Tantallon with his family. Dr. MacAskill is actively involved in various dental organizations and enjoys photography, golf, surfing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

DR. CATHERINE O'NEILL
Graduate fro Dalhousie Dental School in 2022, distinguished herself during her time at Dalhousie Dental School, earning the prestigious Dr. Frank Woodbury Memorial Prize for her exceptional proficiency in theoretical orthodontics. This award highlights her deep understanding of orthodontic principles and her commitment to academic excellence. Following her graduation, Catherine joined the Tantallon Dental Centre as an associate, where she has quickly become an integral part of the team. In her new role, she applies her expertise to provide high-quality orthodontic care to her patients, contributing to the well-established reputation of the practice. As she embarks on this exciting chapter in her career, Catherine is eager to continue growing professionally while making a positive impact on the oral health of her community.

Dr Cory Dean
Dr. Cory Dean graduated with honours from the University of Adelaide in 2013. He worked as a general dentist in Australia for just over two years before moving to Canada to work in multiple practices in British Columbia. He met his now wife, Ashley, a native Nova Scotian, in Nelson, a small ski town in British Columbia. The pair moved to rural Tasmania and then the Mornington Peninsula in Australia. And now, with a recent addition - newborn Nora - they have decided to return to Ashley’s home of Nova Scotia to be closer to family. Cory has varied work experience. This includes working as a general dentist in the Special Needs Unit at the Adelaide Dental Hospital, in residential and respite care at Castlemaine Health, in the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Dental Oncology Unit and for the Vancouver Native Health Society. He also worked as an instructor at the University of British Columbia and more recently at Dalhousie University. He is a member of various study clubs and recently attained Membership with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. Cory is a compassionate dentist with a broad skill set. He looks forward to meeting your dental needs. Outside of dentistry Cory is interested in bike repair, experimental gardening, bush walking, open water swimming and learning French.

Dr Jacquelyn Scott
Dr Jacquelyn Scott Bio
Born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dr Scott earned a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Chemistry from Acadia University in 2009. She then completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Dalhousie University in 2013.
Following graduation, Dr. Scott worked in a general dental practice in London Ontario, as well as served as a clinical instructor at the Western University Faculty of Dentistry. In 2019 she moved home to Nova Scotia to be closer to family.
Dr Scott has had the opportunity to work with a wide range of patients with varying oral health care needs. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and believed in building trusting relationships with her patients to create a comfortable environment for them. She regularly attends continuing education courses to expand on her dental knowledge and skills.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Scott enjoys spending time with her husband and their two young boys. She loves running, reading and travelling.

DR. JENNIFER O'BRIEN
Graduate from Dalhousie Dental School in 1999 and has been dedicated to providing exceptional dental care ever since. In 2000, she established her private practice in Tantallon, Nova Scotia, where she has built a loyal patient base and earned a reputation for her gentle, compassionate approach to dentistry. With over two decades of experience, Dr. O'Brien remains committed to staying current with the latest advancements in dental technology and techniques, ensuring her patients receive the highest standard of care. Her long-standing presence in the Tantallon community reflects her deep commitment to serving the oral health needs of her neighbors and contributing to the well-being of the area.
